Thelma Christel Kristjánsdóttir has joined BBA//Fjeldco

Prior to joining the firm, Thelma was part of the tech, IP and data protection team at LEX law firm where she advised both local and international corporate clients on Technology Law and Data Protection.  

Thelma holds a Mag. Jur. degree from the University of Iceland and recently graduated with an LL.M.  in Technology and Law from the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley). In her studies at UC Berkeley, Thelma focused on research relating to AI, video games, cybersecurity, IP and data protection. She also worked with the Digital Rights Project at Berkely in providing pro bono legal aid.

Thelma is currently teaching part time at the Faculty of Law at the University of Iceland and next year she will also be teaching part time at the Faculty of Law at the University of Bifröst in Iceland. She is also a member of the advisory board of Bonterms, a San Francisco start-up that provides standardised open-source legal forms for enterprises.

Thelma will further strengthen the IP and Data Protection team at BBA//Fjeldco with her experience and knowledge of EU and US data protection and IP law. The demand for such services is ever increasing with the rising popularity of AI and the collection of personal information in everyday life.
